Plaza Indian Tandoori

Plaza Indian Tandoor is one of the old establishments on Ladypool Road which runs through the Balti Triangle. I visited here on 26 November 2006 with two of my friends.
It is not posh place and our tablecloths was stained by the diners who occuplied the table before us. My opinion is that if a restaurant cannot afford to change tablecloths every time, they should not use any from the start.
These are popadoms. Quite large and tastaed ok. I try to avoid popadom, as it fills up my stomach before eating what really wanted to eat.

We did not order any starter.
At the front is pulau rice, at the centre is saag paneer (spinach and Indian cottage cheese), left to it is Kulcha.
The Kulcha should have contained nuts according to the menu, but I did not seen any. Saag paneer was ok, but the cheese was cut too small to my taste (much better at my local Kashmir Cottage).

This is my meat balti. When you see the word "meat" at Indian restaurants, it means lamb or mutton. This iron pan is called Kalahi, and traditional balti container. Recently restaurants use more and more stainless kalahi, but this iron pan is the real one.
This was delicious, but not that special.

This is king prawn biryani. This was accopmanied by a curry sauce, which is not in the photo. The portion was not as large as I would have wanted, and the prawns were not fresh (smelly and mushy).
Another friend ordered vegetable balti. I thought it was ok, but she did not like it as it was too "fruity" (I guess it was tamarind).
We had also a jug of mango lassi. It was ok, but I found some rice grains in it. The bill was about £27, it would have been ok if the food was more decent, with severer quality control. Based on this single visit, I don't recommend it to anyone, but if you are interested, please follow this link.
