GOLDEN POND

Golden Pond
Our third Dim Sum lunch in China Town. This time we went to the Golden Pond in the Arcadian Centre. You might not recognise this sight, but it is on the first floor of the Arcadian, just above the Day-In Chinese supermarket.

This place was recommended by a friend of ours who is a big fan of Chinese food, although he is a Mediterranean.

Golden Pond
While they were preparing a table for us, I took this photo from the entrance toward inside. It is spacious and bright with large windows.

You might be able to see the emblem with letter L: this is the sign that the local Lions club holds meeting here.

Scallop Cheung Fun with Fresh Coriander
If you tell a waiter that you want dim sum, he/she will hand in dim sum order sheet (bilingual in Chinese and English). You just have to mark what you want and give it back to the waiter.

This is cheung fun with scallop (£3.30). The English menu does not tell, but it contains fresh coriander. I love coriander, but if you don't like it, need to avoid. It was not as good as at Chung Ying Garden, but much better than at China Court.

Yam and Prawn Rolls
These are spring rolls that contain yum potato and prawns (£2.60). Prawns were tasty with good bite.
Prawn and Pork Dumpling
Steamed Pork & Prawn Dumplings (£ 2.60). Look very pretty. The red stuff at the centre are some kind of fish eggs. When you bite them, the pork and prawn juice comes out from inside. Nice.

Lotus Seeds Paste Bun
This is sweet dim sum. Inside the bread is brown sweet paste made from lotus seeds. Quite tasty but I don't want more than one at a time.

Glutinous Rice in Lotus Leaves
These are glutenous rice wrapped and steamed inside lotus leaves. Lotus leaves have particular perfume, and rice gets it when steamed together. Inside the rice ball are Chinese sausage, pork, ocean stick etc.

This is inside rice ball. Costs £ 3.90 for two; more expensive than other dimsums but have a lot to eat, too.

Comparing to other restaurants, the food tasted less salty to me. It is better, because you can have a joy of dipping them in soy sauce. We paied around £ 15. Good value for money, too.
